Bazaar

We have had a busy few weeks. We were getting ready for our compounds huge, annual bazaar. Vendors come from all over the Eastern province to sell their goods here. The compound ladies try to raise as much money as possible and we give everything to the Murjan workers. This year we surpassed the numbers from last year.
One of the ideas that I had was having an "ice cream truck" go around the compound. It was a huge hit and we made 500 US dollars on just selling ice cream!
Our favorite driver, Rodel was the official ice cream man!

Claire was sick AGAIN this week! Poor child just can't ever stay well for a long time!

We got to see Santa Claus this weekend! Elise asked him for a dollhouse and Claire asked him for a baby doll.

We saw this little baby, sea turtle and the girls were very concerned. However, seeing as their mother is not a vet, we had to leave him in the water.

Heather and I traded watching the girls for two nights so we could go on dates with our husbands. It was fun going on a date and having their girls over the other night!

Claire LOVES Elise's Ariel wig.

At the bazaar, Elise was proud of her henna tattoo.

Some ladies got together and made gingerbread house kits. I'm excited because finding graham crackers in this area is hard!

Elise loved her Mt. Rushmore post card puzzle from KK.

We were so proud of Elise for being the first star of the week in her classroom. She got to take the share bear home for the weekend!

Starting to decorate for Christmas...

Halloween Festivities

Where do I start this week? It's been an interesting one! On Sunday we were all healthy and by Friday night I had two sick kids and a very sick husband with what everyone here is calling the flu. It was not for the faint at heart. I've never seen any of them more sick than this weekend. Mommy needs a break and they need sleep!

We will start from the beginning!

I subbed this week and Claire's teacher took this picture of her at the creche. They said she is very easy going and sweet.

Love putting them in their Halloween clothes!

We had a princess themed birthday party last weekend! Even Snow White made an appearance! All the girls were told to dress up, which mine were very happy to do so!

Yes, it's still hot enough to go to the beach and eat ice cream outside!

Making Halloween Cookies

I took Elise to Josh's softball game at Aramco this week. Elise loves going to watch him play.

Every day at school was a different theme! Elise says her favorite was pajama day!

Wacky Hair and Backwards Day...

I learned how to cook Vietnamese food this week! A wonderful lady on our compound was doing a cooking class and I signed up! I learned a lot and I think I might actually be able to do this...but then again...I prefer ordering it!

YAY! The little tiny pumpkins arrived at Tamimis. We thought it was pretty hilarious they had one with a pig on it..considering you can't find anything with pork in this country!

Sports Day...

Dress up like your favorite book character..

At Claire's playschool they also had a costume day. She's wearing one of Elise's costumes that Granny made several years ago!

Claire and her playschool buds

We ate our Italian pasta this week! Elise picked this out in Rome and wanted to save it specifically for Halloween.

I had the girls wash the red wagon off before trick or treating. It gets really sandy and gross sitting outside here.

Ariel and Flounder ready to go get some candy!

Cruella and Prince Eric (who is faking the smile because at this point he's super sick) He only made it a few houses

Even though everyone was sick we tried to still do the activities I had planned for the weekend.

As I am writing this everyone is starting to feel better. It actually only lasted about 48 hours..but it was a very dark, 48 hours in the Shenkir house! Glad we are back to normal and we are counting down the days to see family!
